The past five months, we have witnessed our nation enter an era of unprecedented uncertainty and tumult. We watched the coronavirus pandemic leave 137,000 Americans dead and over forty million unemployed. We see the impacts that this economic and health crisis is having in our
communities, especially our Black and Brown communities, which are disproportionately affected.
We watched the deaths of innocent Black men and women at the hands of the police force. We continue to say the names of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Tony McDade, and Dion Johnson. We continue to call for racial justice within our law enforcement system, as well as our education system, healthcare system, and governance system. In the context of a grieving, broken nation, you have chosen to take action. With your help and
support, we launched our first phone bank on July 10th. During these phone calls, we engaged community members in important conversations regarding policing in Contra Costa County. These open, honest conversations serve as tools to enact real change in our community and
mobilize voters to cast their ballots in November. Without you, these conversations would not be possible. We are thankful to have you in this
fight with us.
